This weekend, the Bills will have their biggest challenge of the year so far going up against the reigning AFC Champions, the Kansas City Chiefs. The Bills will be looking for revenge after losing to the Chiefs in the AFC Championship last season. Although it is only Week 5 of the regular season, this game is extremely important when looking further into the season. With both the Chiefs and Bills being Super Bowl contenders from the AFC, this game could come into play as a tiebreaker for playoff seeding. With only the #1 seed getting a bye in the playoffs, a win in this Week 5 matchup for the Bills could put them in the drivers seat.
The Bills have looked unstoppable since the Week 1 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, outscoring their last 4 opponents 118-21. The Bills have moved up to the #1 spot in the PFF and ESPN Power Rankings, and deserve it, shutting out 2 of their last 3 opponents. Although the Chiefs have had their struggles early in the season sitting at 2-2, expect this game to still be close during an exciting Sunday Night Primetime Game.
Both the Chiefs' and the Bills' offense have produced as expected so far this season, with both of these teams being tied for 2nd place in points scored so far this year. However, the Bills have a huge advantage on offense, as the Chiefs defense has been getting exposed all season long. The Chiefs defense ranks 31st in the league in points allowed (125) and yards allowed (1,751). The Bills' defense this season has been the exact opposite so far, leading the NFL in turnovers (11), points allowed (44), and yards allowed (867). The Bills have lost 5 of the last 6 matchups against the Chiefs being outscored 144-105, but are looking to ignore the past, and keep their place atop the AFC standings.
