Blue Water Marina is located on East River Road on Grand Island. A family-owned business that offers a large variety of different services. Blue Water Construction assets were purchased in 1979 by Thomas Stedman and transformed it into the Marina that it is today. In 1991, Daniel Stedman, Thomas’s only son, took over the business and still runs the Marina today.
Blue Water Marina offers a variety of services from docking to renting kayaks and everything in between. As a full-service marina, they offer seasonal dockage, gas and diesel sales, pump-out station, travel-lift capacity up to 30 tons, launch ramp, ship store with boating and fishing supplies, winter storage (inside and outside), complete winterization services, and shrink wrapping. Blue Water Marina also offers expert inboard, outboard, and stern drive repair. For inboard and stern drivers, the marina has services including tune-ups, oil changes, outdrive repair, engine repairs, transom assembly repair, engine alignment, fuel system repair. In addition, services for outboards include complete engine overhauling, gear housing resales and rebuild, water pumps impellers, electrical problems, fuel problems, gear oil change, and four stroke oil and filter change. In addition to servicing boats, Blue Water Marina also sells new and used boats and is authorized an Polar Kraft and Suzuki dealer. Their website provides an in-depth outline of each boat on sale, some of the current boats for sale include Polar Kraft models Frontier 179, Kodiak V200 Walkthrough, and Outlander 165SC.
As mentioned above, the marina also has rentals available. Blue Water Marina has single and tandem kayaks as well as stand-up paddle boards that can be rented for use with the needed safety equipment. The kayaks are also used for guided tours. The kayak tour covers 4.5 miles of the marshes and islands of the upper Niagara River. Some of the highlights of sights on the guided tour include seeing the childhood home of US President Grover Cleveland, nesting Herons and Egrets, and Strawberry Island. The tour can last up to 2.5 hours and includes a single or tandem kayak as well as the needed safety equipment, an expert guide with knowledge in Niagara River history and ecology, and bottled water and a snack. They also offer a guided sunset tour. Blue Water Marina also offers bike and fishing gear rentals.
