This weekend, Discover 716 decided to visit one of our favorite spots in Western New York, Russell's Steaks, Chops & More. We entered through the Patriots & Heroes Park and were simply amazed by the breathtaking memorial, dedicated by Russell J. Salvatore himself. This place was almost turned into a shopping mall until one night Russell woke up after a dream and decided to ask for permission to create a park to honor America's fallen patriots and heroes. Permission was granted and today this amazing park features a September 11 Memorial, a Tomb of The Unknown Soldier, a Purple Heart Memorial, and one of the largest flying flags in NY State.
Next, we pulled up to the entrance, somehow grand and yet still elegant. The entrance features a beautiful aquarium and a friendly staff that was eager to serve us. First impressions matter, and we could already tell that this was a warm, inviting atmosphere. The lounge and restaurant weren't open as of yet, so this allowed us to really take in the scenery. The rooms were immaculate, almost glowing - it was easy to see that the staff does an amazing job at prepping the location for new and returning visitors. After a short conversation with Russell's grandson, I was ready to meet the man himself.
It didn't take long to see that Russell J. Salvatore is truly a class act. We quickly realized we had a newfound respect for his demeanor and philanthropic approach to business. This man is literally a walking charity for the community. It just so happens that if you are ever in a hospital, you are probably watching a TV that Russell has donated. Although his good deeds are well known in the area, it's really something else to hear him speak of them.
Dinner at Russell's requires no second thought. There is a very high chance that Russell himself will be there to greet you and will always find time for a friendly conversation. Tuesday nights in the lounge is always full of life and you can expect to find plenty of smiling faces, welcoming you to a great time. The food at Russell's is very well known in the area, second to none. Visit Russell's Steaks, Chops & More and you will rediscover an old time favorite.
