Buffalo’s Spring Market is in Full Bloom!

Happy April, 716ers, welcome back to Wandering the 716! Whether you’re used to Western New York's many fake springs or it’s brand new to you (as it is for me), I’m sure we’re all in need of a little something to usher in the warmer seasons! This week, on April 3rd and 4th from 9am-5pm, the Buffalo Holiday Market is hosting their Spring Market at the Richardson Olmsted Complex. It’s free admission and it's perfect for all ages!

The market is made of easy to walk paths that have little storefronts on either side and there is both a food and shopping section. When you get there, you get to walk past the historic Olmstead complex and into the open shopping area where you’re met with the energy of local vendors and the smell of warm snacks.

Some of my favorite things to see were the many local artists! Perfect if you’re looking for a small way to give back to your community while also getting unique, handmade art for your home or as a gift for someone else. There were also small terrariums, permanent jewelry stands, and snacks! You can find anything from hand made candles and hand painted prints that you won’t find anywhere else. It’s also a great opportunity to meet and talk to the artists themselves! Even if you’re just looking around, it’s so amazing to see so much creativity in one place.

Check out one of my favorite local artists, Night Works Press!

Whether you're in the mood for a food truck meal or just some small snacks to eat while you walk, the market has warm pretzels, cookies, and more! If you’re looking for something else to take home, they have lots of original hot sauces and spices. There’s also a little indoor area to warm up and pick up some stuffed animals or Bills merch. If you still want to walk, then you have to try the Spring Market’s signature Fluffalo. It’s a hot chocolate drink with fluffy marshmallow, complete with a seasonal Peep’s Marshmallow bunny on top!

If you’re looking for some more fun easter easter activities, this market has easter egg hunts for kids and for adults (21+) as well as the easter bunny! There are so many cute places to take photos and the Olmstead Complex is such a beautiful background to this memorable community event. Having been to both the Winter market and Spring market, I can confidently say, this is an event you don’t want to miss!
